The Library of the Institute of Biology belongs to the university-wide information and library network of the University of Bialystok. It enables on-line access to electronic, full-text and abstract publications, including e-books on the EBSCO platform and IBUK libra. It has six computer stations with Internet access and one work station for the visually impaired. It has a reading room (29 places) available to users during the library's working hours.

The collection of the Library of the Institute of Biology contains about 15,000 volumes of compact sets (academic textbooks and scientific monographs) and about 6,500 volumes of magazines in the fields of biology, environmental protection, ecology and geology. The library subscribes to 24 titles of Polish periodicals and 4 foreign titles:

-    The American Naturalist, 
-    Ecology,
-    Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B. Biological,
-    Physiological and Biochemical Zoology. 

Also, doctoral theses defended at our Institute are being collected.

The book rental is completely computerized. The ALEPH automatic system records all operations related to the reader's recording, ordering, booking and borrowing a book, its return and prolongation.

The library uses the MARC 21 data description format. Personal, corporate, batch and subject names are copied from the master files of the National Universal Catalog. The library uses the language of the subject entries of the Automatic Academic Library (KABA) Catalogs.
